Eastern Slovaks' reflections of the year 1989. Biographical narratives

This diploma work deals with the reflections of Slovak citizens for 1989's, focusing at the region of Košice city and the surrounding area, especially eastern Slovakia. The fall of the communist regime influenced the further development of the whole of Czechoslovakia. Diploma work focuses at the Slovak nation, which is an integral part of Czechoslovak history, but Czech knowledge of Slovak region is severely restricted. Memories and stories of Eastern Slovak habitants are building blocks of this thesis used to factually illustrate that time. In addition, thesis is based both on the available literature sources and archival materials from the collections of the State Regional Archives in Košice city. The theoretical part of work is based on historical sources and results of various researches on November '89. The research part of the diploma work deals with views, opinions and attitudes of Eastern Slovak's participants of November 1989. Interviews with narrators are analyzed and interpreted using oral history methods. This diploma work aims to reflect the everyday life of people, their work and living conditions before and after November '89. Bacelor thesis analysis medial reflection of Václav Havel in czech press in the time of "November 1989". Analysis is focus on changes in presentation of disident and "persona non grata" on medial scene, that changed in very short time to public leader and then president od Czechoslovakia. Thesis first introduces czechoslovak press in specific time of social change, and then analysis, how this change influenced presentation of Václav Havel. For analysis vere chosen influential czech daily papers, that covered whole spectra of opinions on Václav Havel. Medial contents were primarily analysis qualitatively, separated on timelines, to recognition developing tendencies. Then contens of these media was compared in quantitative study, that has analyses differences in relationships to Václav Havel in dependence on events of "November 1989". Thesis acknowlidges same known facts about medial presentation on Václav Havel, but in other parts it openes a new themes and questions, that has not been so much explored to this times. For example ambivalent relationship of daily paper Mladá fronta.
Objectivity of titles Informační servis and Rudé právo in the period November 1989 - December 1989

The Bachelor Thesis "The Objectivity of the News of Informační Servis and Rudé Právo in the Period November 1989 to December 1989 " is devoted to describe the news content of the titles Rudé právo and Informační servis and their objectivity in the period November to December 1989. In particular, the qualitative method of content analysis was applied for the analysis. This is conceived as an interpretative analysis of source texts. The thesis describes the differences between the two titles and, especially, the development that the titles passed during the period under review working with the information and its interpretation. The research part of the thesis is supplemented by the theoretical and methodological parts. Part of the theoretical one is a description of the period and its media situation.
Czech esoterics in the transformation of contemporary history

The main aim of this thesis is to contribute to the enlargement of the knowledge base about the crucial historic period of the -Velvet Revolution‖ and the subsequent transition period. The key sources were interviews with the professional and interest groups of active esoterics, performed using the oral history method. The text is also based on information from The National Archive, the Czech Television archive, the The Archive of Security Forces and relevant literature. Given the specific nature of this topic, this thesis reflects the impact of the new social order in the period after 1989 on the professional and private life of the selected sample of narrators and offers a view on the interaction between the witnesses and the state and the general public. Another aim of this research was to extend the existing knowledge about the esoteric scene in the period after 1989. Nevertheless, it does not aspire to provide a definitive list of various esoteric disciplines in the early transformation period. Additional topics concerning the socialist dictatorship are included to provide a comprehensive overview of the phenomenon. This part analyses the attitude of the communist ideology to esoterism. Občanské fórum in Slaný

The object of this study is the creation, activity and termination of Občanské fórum (OF) in the central Bohemia city Slaný. The OF in Slaný was established after the general strike on 27th November 1989 at home of one of the founders. Other OF were created spontaneously in the workplace and in schools and gradually merged into the urban OF. In the early days the dialogue was the priority, members of OF Slaný called for discussion by their deputies in the local national committee. The main objective is to clarify the activities of OF and its influence on events in Slaný in November and the days following. Many different people with different interests, motivations and desires came and left the OF. And it influenced his future direction and impact on the political scene in Slaný. Without the establishment of the OF it would be more difficult to put pressure on city officials to allow access to the administration for the non-communist parties. The parties and movements have been isolated. The OF was able to unify the parties and joint efforts have produced results. The functions of the OF were primarily informational, coordination and control. Strategy that both parties (the Communist Party and Občanské fórum) chose was a compromise. Thesis deals with the perspective of the Austrian press on events in Czechoslovakia in the early 1990s and especially the period so-called Velvet Revolution and development in 1990 and 1991. The main topics for the Austrian press became November 1989, the development of political events in Czechoslovakia, the opening of border crossings and the construction and operation of nuclear power plants in Czechoslovakia.
